A focal point of Durban's business district, the International
Convention Centre Durban is a functional space in an
aesthetic environment. Centrally located and just a quarter
of an hour from Durban International Airport, ICC Durban
is minutes from hotels and beaches. Palm trees form a
welcoming avenue while at the entrance to the centre
three baobabs, Africa's tree giants, bid a regal greeting.
ICC Durban is centred around three interlinking halls
of immense size. A combined capacity of over 7000 square
meters (75 400 square feet) of flat floor, column-free
breathtaking banquet hall. It's also an exhibition venue,
a convention theatre, a ballroom, a sports arena or concert
chamber, or it can be divided up into eleven varied-size
venues which can all be used concurrently.
Tailor-making environments are made possible by operable
walls which can be moved easily, changing

room configurations as if by magic. The Plenary Hall has
raked seating for 1644 people, subdivided into two separate
840-seat auditoria. Sophisticated technology enables
the seats to be raised into the ceiling and, within hours,
a banquet can be set up in the floor space created. Fibre - optic
lights on the underside of the seating create a starry
night sky when in this configuration.
Smaller venues and meeting rooms, suitable for groups
of 5 to 400, are conveniently situated on the ground and
first floor levels. Besides more intimate gatherings and
seminars, these adaptable, smaller suites are well suited
to breakaway sessions, presentations, functions and cocktail
parties. Three outdoor courtyard venues are a perfect opportunity
to enjoy tea breaks, catered functions and informal meetings
in sheltered landscaped surroundings. |
